Western Star 4700 SB
The owners of Concrete Raising and Repair, Paul & Patty Petersen, have a brand new 2014 Western Star 4700 SB concrete mixer. This heavy-duty truck mixes and pumps concrete to raise footings or slabs of existing buildings, sidewalks, and other structures. Located in the suburbs of Chicago in Wheeling, Illinois, Paul Petersen knew exactly what he was looking for in a new truck.
The Petersen’s purchased their new Star through Truck Country in Davenport, Iowa. Paul stated, “I read a lot about the 4700 and looked at trade shows. I knew I wanted to deal with Truck Country since they have really great service. And I knew I wanted a Western Star since they’re low maintenance.”
Truck salesman, Mark Goodding, had a great time working with the Petersen’s. He knew they wanted to stay lightweight and needed a durable transmission. He stated, “Anyone driving in Chicago knows you’re going from stoplight to stoplight in a short time frame, so we needed to make sure we could get the truck back up to speed quickly. That’s why we decided on high horse power.”
Paul Petersen even mentioned that is favorite thing about his new Star is how quiet it is inside the cab, and that the engine is very quiet with the right amount of power. “It keeps up in stop and go traffic,” he said.
This Western Star is powered by a Cummins ISL 380 horsepower engine, and has an Allison 4500 series transmission.
And what did Mark Goodding say his favorite part is about this truck? “It looks badass,” he answered. “The colors and the decals that the customer put on it make it really stand out. Western Stars are known for their ruggedness and durability,” he added.
Thanks for Mark Goodding and Paul Petersen for sharing this concrete “Rising Star”.
