Take a look at the color of this new Western Star 4700 SB! It’s the new Midnight Sapphire Metallic. Francois Germain (pictured on right), from Globocam in Montreal, Canada, sold this dump truck to owner Maurice Trudeau (pictured on left). Needless to say, this truck is turning heads wherever it goes.
This dump truck features a Detroit DD13 engine with 470 horsepower and a manual 18-speed transmission. This 70,000 lb. vehicle will be carrying gravel, sand, and much more. And have you noticed all the chrome? The custom name plate in the door with Maurice’s name on it is pretty awesome, too!
Francois is very passionate about the trucking industry. He was a driver for about 25 years, and 20 of those years were spent as an owner-operator. Driving all around North America, he delivered construction equipment and small RVs on a flatbed.
During all of those years as a driver, Francois would always buy his rigs from the same sales representative, Roger Duchaine. They were good buddies and would ride their motorcycles together. Francois mentioned to Roger that he wanted to work closer to home, so that’s when Roger offered him the job as a new sales rep. Today, Francois has been selling Western Stars for over a year now at the Canadian Western Star dealer, Globocam, and Roger is the sales manager of three dealerships.
As a sales rep for Western Star, Francois said, “I wish I would have driven a Western Star earlier in my career. Now I know why they’re such great trucks. I love the way they’re built and designed.” His favorite thing about Western Star is that they’re easy to diagnose and maintain.
Today, Francois and Roger still ride their Harley’s when it’s nice out (typically March-October in Canada). Francois also takes his wife, Sylvie, on rides. He loves attending the Montreal Truck Show, ExpoCam, which takes place every two years in Montreal, Quebec.
Big thanks to Francois Germain for contacting us and sharing these great photos and story!
