With the Mid-America Trucking Show all wrapped up, it’s easy to say that the Western Star Trucks booth was a huge success this year! If you missed the show or you didn’t stop by the booth, you missed out on a great time, but Star Nation will give you the scoop.
One of the “must see” trucks at the show was Optimus Prime from the new Transformers 4: Age of Extinction movie coming out June 27, 2014. There was a constant crowd surrounding the new truck, taking pictures, and waiting in line for the Western Star Transformers hat and poster from the Star Girls. The only time there wasn’t a line was before the show started and when the show ended each day.
If you didn’t get a chance to see the Star in person, you’ll be able to see it in action on the big screen later this summer. The newly introduced aerodynamic truck model, the 5700, will be launched later this year by Western Star.
Another featured truck this year at the Western Star booth was the Design Our Star truck that YOU helped design. The final truck was based off of votes for the following:
- Model: 4900 EX
- Application: Long Haul
- Sleeper: Ultra High
- Engine: Detroit DD16
- Interior: Premium Maple Red Ultra Leather
- Custom Paint Job: That 70’s Truck
- Chrome & Accessories: Big & Bold
On Friday, March 28, the keys to the truck were handed over to the Owner-Operator Independent Driver Association (OOIDA). They’ll be using the truck to haul their trailer to various events for the next two years.
The other trucks at the Western Star booth this year were featured in the 2014 Western Star “Never Back Down” calendar. They include a 4700 SB, 4900 SF, and 6900 XD. You could climb inside, talk to the people at Western Star about the trucks, take photos, and overall, catch a glimpse of some great looking trucks. All sides of the booth featured the stories and images of the trucks from the calendar.
In addition to seeing all the great things Western Star has to offer, you also had the chance to meet some famous people at the booth.
This year’s show hosted some big names. Country singer, Craig Morgan, and star of Deadliest Catch, Edgar Hansen, signed autographs and took photos on Thursday; country singer, Rachele Lynae, performed a live show, signed autographs and took photos on Friday; and country singer, Sara Evans, signed autographs on Saturday. The Western Star Girls were there every day taking photos and passing out the coveted Western Star Trucks swag!
Finally, all of the drivers, owners, and fans of Western Star are what really made MATS 2014 a success. Everyone had a great time, and Star Nation looks forward to seeing everyone again next year!
