Western Star 4800
This Star of the Week is a Western Star 4800 set forward twinsteer which was originally designed for the mixer market in British Columbia, Canada, but in this feature, can accommodate other applications, too. Here are the comments that our Western Star friend, Mike Edge-Partington, received:
“Your Stargraphic photographer just returned from the semi-arid, eastern plains of Colorado with action photos of Hamacher Well Works, drilling a new water well for a thirsty Colorado ranch. This was the 2nd job for this new Star has been on and the customer is already impressed with the remarkable fuel efficiency of the DD13. Plenty of power at 450/1650 to get to the job site and stingy on fuel as it runs all day driving his drill rig.”
Great stuff. This unit is spec’d w/ a DD13, 18 speed manual transmission, 40K frt, 46K rears, double 3/8” pig iron, and stretched on a 304” WB. Mike Edge-Partington commented, “The only thing would have added, is a stainless steel sun visor, but hey, that doesn’t help drill the hole now, does it!!” We would like to see one of those, too!
