We love pictures of Western Star Trucks here at Star Nation, especially ones taken by you guys. In the ones we’ve already received from some of you, your trucks are your pride and joy and we can tell by the way they shine in every photo. If you have some to share, send them to us at .
We were sent this picture some time ago by our friends at Western Star. We think this is a 1973 White Western Star 4800 but are willing to take our lumps if we’re wrong. If anyone’s an expert on some of the older Stars, and wants to weigh in on this, we’d love to hear from you.
Since we started Star Nation, we’ve gathered a small collection of items from Western Star’s great history. You can see some of it on our Museum page but we have so much more to show. We even managed to get our hands on some old copies of the Star Gazer which have everything from company updates to safe barbecue tips for Western Star employees. Most of it would be of no great interest to many of our readers so we’re working on the best way to share the good stuff for you.
In a 1997 Star Gazer, there is an article about the trucks they took to the Mid-America Trucking Show held in Louisville, KY which has been the home of that show since the early 70’s. These are the Western Star trucks they were showing 15 years ago:
- 4964EX with a 72″ Sleeper
- 4964EX with Tow Accessories
- 4964FX with a 66″ Aluminum Sleeper
- 5864SS Tractor
- 5864SS with a 58″ Sleeper, Fairings and Fuel Tank Skirts
Finally, we have another picture that we’re hoping someone out there can identify. All we know is it’s a 2000 Western Star wrecker and we’re hoping someone steps up and fills us in on the history of this beauty.
If you look closely, you’ll see a logo on the passenger side that says,
“Larry’s.” There’s a lot of little details in the paint that might help someone recognize this truck. We’d love to know where this truck is today so if anyone out there recognizes it, tell us in the comments below.
If you have any pictures you want to share with us, send them in to us at and we’ll add them to the Star Nation website. Old or new, we’ll take them all and soon we’ll have a gallery to share. We have plans to do some games and contests with your pictures, but we need lots of them first so send them in today! And let us know if you have any information on the Western Star 4800 or the 2000 Western Star wrecker we posted in this blog.
