Have you ever looked into the cost of having custom painted designs on your Star? It’s not cheap, that’s for sure. And, it’s permanent for the most part so you better like what you’re sporting along the side of your truck. Years ago I looked into having some sort of custom artwork or graphics that set my truck apart from everyone else’s but could never commit to the paint and didn’t like what I’d heard about the quality of the vinyl ones. I was excited to see the Western Star custom graphics packages that don’t require the commitment of a custom paint job but has the look, feel and quality of a custom paint job.
Last week, I had a chance to chat with John Tomlinson in the Product Strategy group at Western Star, and he was able to give me some insight into the graphics package you can now get for your Star. Here are the highlights:
We’ve come a long way since the vinyl decals of the ’70s where everything started out as a big block of vinyl. Now, with the invention of computers and digital printers, the solvent ink burns right into the vinyl for a long lasting design and gives it that singular look with the tone of the paint. They can create designs that match the paint of your truck exactly so the overall quality of the design on the truck stays true.
The graphics package currently comes in five designs and more will be added soon. When you add your company name and official logo, you’re sure to be the only one in your area with the look you choose. Don’t have a logo? Sketch one out on a napkin and they’ll make it rock for you. And, you can choose the font that you want. Some people like BLOCK LETTERS, some like something more of a script. There’s tons of fonts to choose from.
Because of the way these custom graphics are manufactured, you can replace just a piece of it if it get’s damaged. Gone are the days of the block shape designs of the past where you would have to replace your hood just to fix a small portion of a graphic if it got damaged in an accident. And, you can order them at any dealership. I understand the process is easy and they don’t take long to come in for installation.
I think they’re going to showcase the customs graphic package at MATS 2012 so make sure you check that out – Ride and Drive, I believe. Check out the flyers below to see all the specs for each Western Star Custom Graphics design.
