You won’t believe your eyes when you see these Western Stars and their heavy haul in one of the coolest truck videos on the Internet. Absolute Video used a drone to film the rigs, owned by J.E. Oswalt & Sons, with an enormous tire press part they were moving for a large tire company.
Click here to watch the video everyone is talking about. You can see the two Stars working together to get the massive part through the tight city roads. The piece being hauled is used in the manufacturing of earth mover tires; some of which are 16 feet in diameter. What’s even more astonishing is J.E. Oswalt & Sons typically pulls 100-200 tons with their Western Stars on a regular basis throughout the Carolina’s and Georgia. .
The pull truck is one of the company’s three Western Star 6900 truck models, and the push truck is a brand new 2015 Western Star 4900SB. All four Western Stars they own are fitted with Detroit engines and Allison automatic transmissions.
We spoke with David Oswalt, owner and President of J.E. Oswalt & Sons, and he told us all about the company, his Western Stars, and these heavy hauls in the truck videos.
Located in Batesburg, SC, this family-owned business dates back to 1927. The company started by moving houses, but later evolved into a business which allowed them to enter the heavy haul and rigging industry. They have mastered the art of logistics, and because of this, they specialize in many services and are a part of multiple trade associations.
These trade organizations include the Specialized Carriers & Rigging Association (SC&RA), the International Association of Structural Movers (IASM), and several more.
The company, started by David’s grandfather, has had a relationship with Shealy Western Star for over 50 years. The dealership, located in Columbia, SC, is where they purchased all four of their Western Stars.
David told us, “Western Star Trucks are the only ones that offer the heavy duty, off-road trucks we need. They have the right amount of pulling power and adapt well to their environment.”
Below are some other trucking videos of the same Westerns Stars owned by J.E. Oswalt & Sons:
If you’re wondering how they keep these Stars in such great shape, it’s because after every move, each rig is pulled into the shop and checked from top to bottom. Fluid levels, fan belts, tires; everything is inspected to ensure these heavy hauling Western Stars are ready for their next job!
